What you may see

 

After the successful installation of your printer driver, the creation of your printer object for that printer does not appear. 

 

What to try

Make sure the printer is available to you from the application.

If... Then...  Click Image to Enlarge
Printing from Desktop application...
  1. Open the application.
  2. Initiate a print job: e.g., File > Print.
  3. See if the printer appears in your list of available printers. 
  
Printing from a Windows 8 tiled application...
  1. Open the Windows 8 application.
  2. Initiate a print job: e.g., Devices charm.
  3. See if your printer appears in the list of available printers.
  

 

 What does this mean?  

Windows Update attempts to locate an updated printer driver upon completion of your printer driver installation. This process may cause a slight delay in the creation of your printer's print object, but this delay should not prevent you from using your printer.
