Problem

Output Bin Full Sensor does not support narrow media; Bin Full Sensor; Flag; 7.5 inches; 190.5 mm; Paper falls on floor;

Solution

Overview

When printing on narrow media, paper continuously accumulates in the output bin and eventually stacks high enough to push sheets onto the floor.

Explanation

The MS310d/dn, MS410d/dn, MS510dn, and MS610dn/de printer models do not sense "Bin Full" with media narrower than 7.5 inches (190.5 mm). This is due to the location of the Standard Output Bin Full Sensor.

IMPORTANT! In this scenario, the Standard Output Bin Full Sensor is most certainly not defective. Testing the printer with Letter or Legal-sized paper should confirm that the sensor is functioning as designed.

Recommendation

In order to prevent sheets from pushing onto the floor, customers are advised to pull or lift the paper output bin extender (see photo below), and remove the media from the output bin before it stacks above the rollers in the output bin.

Use the output bin extender when printing on letter, A4, and narrow sized paper such as envelopes.
