Overview


This article explains how to uninstall Lexmark printers from a Macintosh or Windows-based computer.

 

Uninstall instructions for Windows

Disconnect the USB Cable (where applicable).

Locate the Start / Programs / Lexmark XXXX Series / Tools / Uninstall Lexmark XXXX Series shortcut.

Note: The path may slightly vary for newer models; i.e. Start / Programs / Lexmark / Lexmark XXXX Series / Uninstall Lexmark XXXX Series shortcut.

To start the uninstallation procedure click on the Yes button.

Important! For newer models installed on Microsoft Windows Vista, 7, and 8, a User Account Control (UAC) for Lexmark International Inc. will pop up. Click Yes to allow uninstallation.
4 Please be patient and let the operation complete.
5 As indicated on the last screen, restart the computer by clicking OK.
NOTE: The uninstaller window interface may slightly vary per printer model, but serves the same purpose. This procedure removes only the core drivers (minimal print and scan drivers) and supporting software. The rest (OCR software, Fax Solution, Toolbar, etc.) have to be uninstalled separately.
 

Uninstall instructions for Macintosh

Disconnect the USB Cable (where applicable).

2 Locate the XXXX Series folder on the desktop and double click on it.
3 Double click on the XXXX Series Uninstaller icon.
4 For security reasons the system may require the computer password.
5 Please be patient and let the operation complete.
6 Finish the procedure by clicking on OK.
If you accidentally deleted the shortcut to the Lexmark folder on the Desktop, you can manually locate the actual folder, where the uninstaller is located on your Hard Disk, by navigating in the Finder to:
HD > Library > Printers > Lexmark > 200X > Lexmark XXXX Series, or
200X - Generic representation of the year when the product was introduced to the market; (i.e., 2006, 2007, 2008, etc.).
XXXX - Generic representation of the model name for your product; (i.e., X4650, X6650, etc.).
HD > Applications > Lexmark > Uninstaller (for newer models)

NOTE: The uninstaller window interface may slightly vary per printer model, but serves the same purpose. This procedure removes only the print and scan drivers and the supporting files. If you installed the printer drivers via the Install CD from the box, then Abbyy Fine Reader will be installed as well, and it will not be deleted when you are uninstalling the Lexmark Printer.
