This article outlines the installation/replacement procedure for the toner cartridge on a Lexmark X86xe MFP.

Replacement/Installation Procedure

1 Open the Front Door.

2 Grasp the handle and pull out the cartridge.

3 Unpack a new cartridge.

Warning—Potential Damage: When replacing a toner cartridge, do not leave the new cartridge exposed to direct light for an extended period of time. Extended light exposure can cause print quality problems.

4 Firmly shake the new cartridge front-to-back and side-to-side to evenly distribute the toner.

5 Insert or slide the new cartridge into the appropriate position inside the MFP.

6 Push the toner cartridge in as far as it will go. The cartridge clicks into place when correctly installed. No Image

7 Close the Front Door.

Note: After performing the steps above, the MFP performs a motor cycle and clears the Replace Toner warnings. Then the MFP returns to the Ready state.
