Printer Is Unable to Send ‘Near End of Life’ Warning Message for Imaging Unit

Overview


The printers listed below fail to send a “Near End of Life” warning e-mail notification for the Imaging Unit. An e-mail alert will only be sent when the device’s Imaging Unit has already reached its End of Life and is at a Non Continuable Stop.

NOTE: Toner Cartridge e-mail notification works.

NOTE: An x denotes any number within a given printer model series.

 

Recommended solution


Perform the following:

Step Action

Update the printer’s firmware to PE Release code P450 or the latest.

Note: To obtain this version, please contact Lexmark Technical Support and reference this article ID. Support personnel can assist with the update procedure if necessary.

Go to the printer’s embedded web server (EWS) > Settings > E-mail Alert Setup.

Note: Please see Document ID: SO4541 to view steps to access EWS.

Click on the  sign beside Supplies, then the  sign beside Imaging Unit or Imaging kit.

Make sure to place a check on Imaging Unit Low.

Go back to Settings > Print Settings > Supply Notifications > locate the Imaging Unit section, and then set Email as the behavior for the Near End of Life column.

Note: Some models may allow you to set your desired % threshold, while others have a default value. Click here to view a sample image.

Important! Restart the printer after setting Supply Notifications.
