Lexmark MS911 or MX91x – Vertical Line of Toner Is Seen on Edge of Page

Print quality issue; Thick black line on sheet edge; Solid; Thin; Corona wire cleaner not inserted properly


What you will see

A solid-vertical line prints down the entire left-hand side of the page.

NOTE: The distance from the edge of the page can be variable on a case-to-case basis.


Suggested fix

Ensure that the corona wire* cleaner is inserted fully as shown in the image below.

To do this:

  1. Open the printer’s bottom-front door.
  2. Look for the white flag or tab.
  3. Pull the tab out slightly, and then push the tab back in until it stops.
  4. Close door and test.

Push the corona wire* cleaner in the direction pointed to by the red arrow and make sure that it is seated properly.

 * The corona wire is a component of the charger or charge roller assembly.

The printer is not able to detect the incomplete insertion of this corona wire* cleaner, hence the front door can be closed without any apparent error and this print anamoly results.
