Troubleshooting a false 'Close door A' error message
What the error means
The Close Door A error indicates that the printer has detected that Door A is open.
What to do
If Door A is not actually open when the message appears, a service call will probably be required. However, certain rare occurrences, such as a a power fluctuation or a stray static discharge in the vicinity of the printer, can cause a false Close Door A error message to appear. In such cases, the error is only temporary and can be easily resolved without service. Follow the steps in the table to check.

Did the error message clear?
Yes: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is working correctly.
No: Continue to Step 2.2 Power off the printer, wait ten seconds, and then power it on again.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Step 3.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is working correctly.3 If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. In rare instances, a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can generate false error messages.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to 'Contacting Lexmark'.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly.
