What you will see
An "Insufficient Data for an Image" or "A drawing error occurred" error message pops up when you open (and start to scroll down) a Portable Document Format (PDF) file scanned through the Scan to E-mail feature on a Lexmark MX71x or MX81x series MFP. The error occurs when using Adobe Acrobat or Reader version 9.5.x or earlier. See sample image below:
NOTE: The PDF file opens correctly using Adobe Reader version 11 or later. An x denotes any number within a given printer model series.

Update the printer’s firmware code to EC4.05 (P439) or the latest level.
How to download firmware
- Go to support.lexmark.com.
- Type your printer model in the “Enter Product Name” field and click OR click on the picture of the correct printer model shown.
- Locate the “Downloads” tab.
- Select the version of the Operating System.
- Click the link available under "Firmware".
Once you have the latest firmware downloaded, proceed with any of the options below to perform the update.
