What you will see

Printer driver was not installed' Operation Could Not be Completed (Error 0X00000002)" displays when you attempt to install the printer driver.


Suggested Remedy

Check your operating system version or "System Type", and then download the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit printer driver. 

To check your operating system version:

  • For most versions of Windows, you can determine the operating system by right-clicking on your Computer icon in the start menu or desktop, and then choosing Properties from the menu, as below.

Device drivers must match the operating system architecture, so the error message 'Printer drivers was not installed' was generated when the driver or software you attempted to install was not designed for your particular Operating System version or architecture.

This means if you have a 32-bit version of Windows, then you need to use 32-bit device drivers. Likewise, if you have a 64-bit version of Windows, then you need to use 64-bit device drivers.
