283.03 error accompanied by the potential observation of concurrent multiple sheets of paper being picked by the automatic document feeder (ADF).
Here are some simple steps to follow if encountering this type of jam:
Check for debris, paper dust, or other substances on the ADF separator pad, restraint pad, and ADF separator rollers.
Are ADF rollers dirty or dusty?
Clean the pick roller assembly. To do this:
b. With isopropyl alcohol applied to a lint-free cloth, clean all rollers.
c. Retest and then see Step 2 if the issue persists.
|Clean the pick roller assembly anyway. This will assure that nothing is impairing the rollers ability to pick a sheet of paper. See Step 2 is the issue persists.|
Check the side paper guides to make sure they are not too loose and not too snug against the paper stack.
Adjust the guides and retest. Does issue persist?

How to download and install the latest firmware
- Go to support.lexmark.com.
- Type your printer model in the “Enter Product Name” field and click OR click on the picture of the correct printer model shown.
- Locate the “Downloads” tab.
- Select the version of the Operating System.
- Click the link available under "Firmware".
- After downloading the firmware, proceed with any of the methods below to perform the update.
