USB Continue button grayed out; Cannot be clicked; Greyed out; Button inactive; Unavailable; USB connection not recognized;

Solution

What you will see
 

Wireless Setup Utility may display a gray "Continue" button and prevent you from configuring your printer to communicate on your wireless network.

What is known about this symptom:

  • You have confirmed a proper USB connection.
  • You have tried a different USB port on the PC.
  • You have verified the USB cable is not defective.

IMPORTANT! Before you try the suggested fix below, it is important to ensure a proper USB connection. It is recommended that the cable be directly attached to the USB port; i.e., not via a hub, USB extension cables, docking stations, etc.

 

Suggested Fix
 

Try to disable Bluetooth Hard Copy Cable Replacement Server. Follow the steps below:

Open Device Manager.

Note: See details on how this can be done for each Operating System shown below:

1. With a touchscreen-capable device, swipe up while on the Start screen and touch the All apps icon OR with a mouse, right-click anywhere on the Start screen and then click All apps.

2. On the Apps screen, swipe or scroll to the right and find the Windows System category.

3. Press or click on the Control Panel icon.

Tip! With a keyboard, press the WIN key logo and X keys together to access the Power User Menu, which has a shortcut for Control Panel.

4. Click Device Manager.

2. Type the word Device Manager in the open box showing “Search programs and files” directly on top of the windows logo.

3. Click Device Manager showing as a search result in the same column or hit the Enter key if Device Manager is highlighted.

1. Click on Start and then Run.

2. Type the command devmgmt.msc in the Open: text box, and then hit the Enter key or click on the OK button.

Locate Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Locate Bluetooth Hard Copy Cable Replacement Server.

Note: If found, right-click on it, select disable, and then continue with the Wireless Setup Utility or re-run the setup.

If not found, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional troubleshooting suggestions.

Once wireless setup is completed, re-enable the Bluetooth Hard Copy Cable Replacement Server via the steps above.
