Purpose

This article was created in an effort to increase search efficacy for difficult-to-find KnowledgeBase articles.

NOTE: This article will not contain all firmware update related topics. It is still recommended that you perform multiple searches with multiple search terms in an attempt to find your topic of interest.
Also reference the User's Guide, software help, and other forms of technical support if you cannot find the topic of interest.

Before you begin

This document discusses the dos and don’ts when performing a firmware update. This will also serve as the base for firmware update options (anchor) available for different operating systems.

IMPORTANT! Firmware update is essential to optimize the printer’s performance. However, this procedure should only be performed when Lexmark Technical Support has recommended a firmware update. Recommendations will be made by a technician if a printer function or printing anomaly is known to be corrected by updating the printer firmware.

Do the following before updating printer or MFP firmware:

  • Make sure that printer is in a “READY” state, and no error codes or messages are displayed on the printer screen.

  • Double check for any option cards installed on the printer; should the printer have an option card installed, please check whether there is an updated firmware version for the said option card and make use of that instead.

WARNING! Do not update the firmware if you are unsure about the presence of special code or code that is specific to a Downloadable Language Emulator (DLE). For more information, contact Lexmark Technical Support.

Firmware Flash Table of Contents

This table contains links for firmware update methods and options for various operating systems.

IMPORTANT! Firmware updates are available upon request if your printer or MFP is exhibiting symptoms known to be corrected with the latest code release.
