844 Error Results from a Hardware Change and also Prevents Firmware Downgrading on the X26x and X36x Series MFPs

What you will see

A possible 844 error (Unable to Calibrate) results from attempting to update the printer will older code than what is currently on the device.

Or, a new 'CCD' assembly was installed into a printer that contained older firmware code levels.

 

Suggested Remedy

If... Then... But...
Replacing the CCD assembly... Update firmware first, and then install the new CCD assembly.

Make sure that the firmware was released after July 2011.

For example, P433b

Explanation

A change in one of the printer's hardware components required a slight change to the printer's firmware.
