Firmware Update Recommendations

 

Step 1: Check your printer's current code levels. See "How to Check Printer Firmware Levels" below if you are unfamiliar with this procedure.  

If your printer firmware is ... And... Then...
At the latest firmware level described in this article... You are experiencing an issue with the device... Stop here, and contact Lexmark Technical Support.
Specific to a DLE or other function not identified in this article...

If your printer firmware code level is at  LW1.SB4.P133 (EC1.1) or earlier.

You are experiencing an issue with the device, or you would like to possibly enhance product functionality... Reference the Release Notes in an attempt to identify your issue, or continue to Step 2.

After downloading and extracting the files, you will update the device using the Windows automated flash file (.exe) or select your flash (.fls) update method below.

.FLS file update methods  

  

Make sure the printer is READY to receive firmware, and do not interrupt the printer's power or data connection during the update process. 

 

Firmware Flash Methods (.fls file extensions)
Information Recommended Use
Embedded Web Server (EWS Open your internet browser and enter the IP address of the printer. Select Settings > Update Firmware. You have network access to the printer's embedded Web server.
USB utility Click here for example. Seldom used, but a good alternative flash method for USB-attached printers
USB thumb drive Click here for example. A standalone printer  without computer access

How to Check Printer Firmware Levels 

 

To do this, obtain the Menu Settings page or access the printer's embedded web server (EWS) for this purpose. 

Checking firmware levels via Printer Menu's Setting page

1 Press the Menu button on the Operator Panel.
2 Touch Reports.
3 Touch Menu Settings Page to start printing.

Look for the code level under “Device Information”. 

Checking firmware levels via the printer's embedded web server (EWS):

1 Launch your internet browser application.
2 After http://, enter the printer's IP address.

Click on Reports.

4 Click on Device Information.
