When you print a presentation with transparent fills and graphics in Microsoft PowerPoint, the printed output may not look as good as the slide does on the screen. Instead, the transparent regions may appear grainy, jagged, or not appear at all.

Explanation
 

This concern is mainly related to the features of Microsoft PowerPoint application and printing using PostScript drivers only.

Workaround
 

There are four possible methods to address this concern.

• Method 1: Converting the objects to an image
• Method 2: Converting the whole slide to an image
• Method 3: Converting the whole slide to PDF
• Method 4: Marking "High Quality" Print Setting

NOTE: Method 4 is available for PowerPoint 2010 and 2007 versions.

Method 3: Converting the whole slide to PDF

If the transparency effect includes many objects on the slide, you can save the whole slide as a graphic and then print it separately or as part of the presentation.

1. Make sure the slide you want to save as a graphic is the slide that is visible in the slide pane.

2. On the File menu, click Save as.

NOTE: In PowerPoint 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Save As.

3. In the Save as dialog box, click PDF (*.pdf) in the Save as type box, and then click Save.

Method 4: Marking "High Quality" Print Setting

You may try selecting the "High Quality" print setting to increase resolution, blend transparent graphics, and print soft shadows in your print job.

1. In Powerpoint 2010, click the File menu, and then select Options.

NOTE: In PowerPoint 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Powerpoint Options.

2. Click Advanced, locate the Print group, mark "High Quality", and then click OK.

 NOTE: When you print in high quality, it may take longer for your presentation to print.
