Engine: FDN.DN.E609 (Changes in Printer Firmware since FDN.DN.E509)

Functional Enhancements:

  • Optimized performance when duplexing and stapling
  • Reduced the Advance Start timeout from 15 seconds to 5 seconds
  • Added support for a mode where the main fan is off unless actively printing
  • Added cartridge and imaging unit part numbers to the MPS data, to aid MPS administrators when ordering replacement supplies
  • Unsupported supply algorithm updated

Field Service related enhancements:

  • Fix for some 121.08 fuser errors on MS710 series devices, only on the first page after a paper jam
  • Prevent fuser memory (maintenance kit counter) from being corrupted if the fuser is changed without first removing power to the device
  • Added capability to disable advance start and smart runout via diagnostics engine settings for customers that experience excessive churn on EP system

  1. Addressed an issue in which the device awakes from sleep if TCP port 9100 is opened.

  4. Provided a 802.1x fix needed when authenticating with Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012.
  5. Addressed connection delays associated with DNS lookup while using Active Directory.

  8. Improved error handling when using Kerberos.

  1. Improved user interface for factory reset and wiping operations.
  2. Made improvements to the "Wipe All" setting function.

  5. User enhancements made to the embedded Web server (EWS).
  6. Made change to show the percentage information when hovering with the mouse over supply level bars on the EWS.

  2. Fixed an issue causing printer jams on duplex letterhead job.

  5. Addressed a condition in which using the BadgeAuth eSF app could lead to a screen lock up.
  6. The maximum sleep timeouts have been reduced to meet Blue Angel requirements.
  7. Addressed an issue in which the device would hang temporarily when pressing the Logout button on the Document Workflow screen.
  8. Fixed an issue where ComboPrompt does not display properly on LDSS Print app.
  9. Provided a fix for Black rectangles showing on screen of LDD workflows.
  10. Made various app (eSF) framework enhancements.
  11. Added JFIF header support to app (eSF) image file support.
  12. Fixed an app (eSF) interface issue in which saved shortcut settings to overridden workflows were not getting displayed in the workflow screen.

  1. Improved robustness to small interpage gaps which previously resulted in 202.05 paper jams.
  2. Flush pages to output and repick any blank pages when interpage gap is too small to benefit from above robustness improvement.
  3. Fix for possible 202.17 errors when duplexing and mixing letter and label media types.
  4. Fix for some 202.17 errors on first page of job when the supply voltage is low.
  5. Improved toner usage estimation in the lightest settings.
  6. Improved performance when duplexing and stapling by eliminating a source of delay between duplex staple sets.
  7. Do not flush multifeeds if the page will be hole-punched, avoiding a possible jam in the punch mechanism.
  8. Fix for narrow media algorithm during large batch jobs and very specific timings.

Functional Enhancements

Firmware update recommendations


If you are experiencing an issue with the your product, or you would like to enhance your product's funtionality.

Step 1: Check your printer's current code levels. See "How to Check Printer Firmware Levels" below if you are unfamiliar with this procedure.    

If your printer has ... (scenarios)
Printer firmware (Base) code ≤ LW40.\\.P439 and Engine code ≤ .E402
  1. Review Release Notes above to identify a fix or feature
  2. Eliminate the scenarios that follow. 
  3. Continue to Step 2.
The latest firmware installed; for example, firmware version under Device Information is already at the level specified in this article. Contact Lexmark Technical Support or search Knowledgebase.
A special version of firmware was installed to address a specific issue or add specific funtionality.
  1. Again, reference the Release Notes for identification purposes.
  2. Proceed to Step 2 only if you know your fix or feature is included in this EC build.
  3. Contact Lexmark Technical Support if you cannot determine if your fix has been implemented in this new version of firmware.

  1. Reference the Release Notes for identification purposes.
  2. Contact Lexmark Technical Support.
  3. Mention to the support representative the type of  DLE card and the problem that is fixed by this firmware release.
  4. Request an equivalent level of firmware compatible with your DLE option.

How to check printer firmware levels

To do this, obtain the Menu Settings page or access the printer's embedded web server (EWS) for this purpose. 

Checking firmware levels via Printer Menu's Setting page

1 Press the Menu button on the Operator Panel.
2 Touch Reports.
3 Touch Menu Settings Page to start printing.

Look for the code level under “Device Information”. 


Checking firmware levels via the printer's embedded web server (EWS):

1 Launch your internet browser application.
2 After http://, enter the printer's IP address.

Click on Reports.

4 Click on Device Information.
