How to Manually Install ABBYY FineReader on the Mac OS 10.x
This article describes how to manually install ABBYY FineReader Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software from the installation disc on a supported Mac OS 10.x.x operating system.
What you will see
If you are using a Mac OS and find that the installation CD is not compatible with the given Mac OS, it is recommended that you use the web installer to get the updated driver. However, the web installer does not have ABBYY FineReader. An error “Could not find OCR software” will display on the screen when you attempt to use OCR on a document. See image below.
Follow the steps below to install OCR software.
|Step||Action||Click Image to Enlarge|
|1||Insert the Installation disc, then CTRL + Click (equivalent to right-click in Windows) on the Lexmark Install icon|
|2||Click on “Show Package Contents”.|
Navigate to Contents > Packages.
Note: For 2011 Inkjet printers onwards, navigate to Contents > Resources > Packages.
|4||Double-click on the "ABBYY FineReader.pkg" and proceed with the installation.|
Once the installation is complete, you should now see an ABBYY FineReader 5 Sprint folder under Applications.
