'Document' and 'Email Document' Scan Links in Lexmark Printer Home Will Not Work If OCR Is Not Installed

Problem

Optical character recognition; ABBYY FineReader; LPH Scan options; CD install; Installation disc; Cannot scan; Unable; Grayed out buttons; Disabled;

Solution

What you will see
 

If you choose to not install the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) package during the installation, or if you install from the web package that does not contain the OCR software, then the following can occur.

  1. The "Document" link under the  category in Lexmark Printer Home (LPH) will be enabled but will not work. You can click on the option but nothing will happen. (See image below.)

  2. The "Document" and "Email Document" selections found under  the  category are grayed out with a message instructing users to install the OCR software. (See image below.)

Follow the steps recommended below:

Install the OCR software from the driver CD that came with your Lexmark All-In-One.

Note: Click here to view the instructions on how to install the OCR software.

2 Reopen your Lexmark Printer Home application.
