Issue description

NOTE: These are all Out-of-Box (OOB) issue since they are induced during the installation of the Lexmark device.

It has been observed that there are reports of error messages and print quality defects after the setup and installation of these devices.

Cause and explanation

These issues are induced by the incorrect installation of the device, most commonly due to the non-removal of packaging material.

Listed below is a list of the most common issues that were encountered after the installation:

Issues Cause
824.00 Scanner motor error

Loud noise from scanner area
Scanner Packaging Screws were left on the device.
383.63 Finisher Error

Loud noise from Finisher option
Packaging Screw on Stapler Option not removed.
Print Quality Issue

202.93 Paper jam error
Packaging Shipping Clips not removed from Transfer Roller.
Print Quality Issue (Missing Plane)
Packaging Material not removed from Black (K) Photoconductor.

Sample print quality defects

Here are samples of potential print quality issues (PQI) when the packaging material is not removed completely from the Black (K) photoconductor.




The following issues can easily be resolved by checking the Lexmark device for any packaging material that was missed.

Should an end user call in for assistance, please make sure to check the following procedures and walk them through the steps of checking the areas where they might have missed a packaging material.

383.63 Finisher Error / Loud noise from Finisher option

Make sure to remove the Packaging screw on the stapler option and follow the proper procedure when installing the stapler finisher.



824.00 Scanner motor Error / Loud noise from the Scanner Area

Check the Scanner Packaging Screws and make sure that they are removed.



Print Quality Issue (Missing Plane)

Remove the Packaging materials from the Black (K) Photoconductor.



202.93 Paper jam error / Print Quality Issue

Make sure to remove the Packaging materials located in the Second Transfer Roller.


NOTE: There are two packaging shipping clips that are found in the Second Transfer Roller.
