Firmware update instructions and decisions

Step 1: Identify current code levels and follow the decisions below. See "How to check printer firmware levels"

Important upgrade decisions:

Base code is ≤ LW70.\\.P022 and engine code is  ≤ .E602
  1. Review current release notes and release history to identify a needed fix or function.
  2. Read and eliminate all remaining decisions in this table.
  3. Continue to Step 2.
Base code is already at EC5.0 (LW50), but my firmware requirements call for EC4.0 or EC4.05 - LW40.##.P436 or .P439

You must first revert to an intermediate code level of EC4.1 (LW41.##.P454).

  1. Go back to the product page to obtain EC4.1.
  2. Extract the .zip file contents.
  3. Send EC4.1 to the device.
  4. Once you have verified the device is at EC4.1, you can now send EC4.0 or EC4.05.
Failure to comply with these instructions will result in a 900 service error.

Click here for more information and device recovery instructions.

Base code is already at EC5.0 (LW50) as seen under Device Information (example), but I am still witnessing an issue with the device.

Search KnowledgeBase for another solution, or contact Lexmark Technical Support.

I have code installed that is not recognized in this article, or I have had a special build of firmware provided by members of Lexmark's product engineering team.
  1. Review current release notes and release history to identify a needed fix or function.
  2. Proceed to Step 2 only if you have confirmed the presence of the fix or function provided by your special build of firmware.
  3. Contact Lexmark Technical Support if you need additional confirmation that this upgrade is safe.
I have DLE- specific firmware code.

Installed DLE as see under Device Information

DLE options include PrintCryption, Prescribe, IPDS, and Forms and Barcode.

DLEs are base-code dependent, so
  1. Review current release notes and release history to identify a needed fix or function.
  2. Contact Lexmark Technical Support to request a DLE-specific version of this code level.
  3. You will be asked what type of DLE card is installed in the device.
  4. Click here if you installed a DLE and received an error.

Step 2: Download and extract the .zip file. See Firmware availability above.

Step 3: Update the printer.
