How to Update the Lexmark N7000 Series Print Servers Using a USB Flash/Jump Drive

Solution

Procedure:  USB Firmware Update 

Before you begin, do the following:

  • - Download the firmware from Lexmark.com.

  • - Extract the .zip file

  • - Copy the *.ffc file to a flash drive. (The example below uses the LLCON0N53.ffc file.)

NOTE:  This procedure applies to MarkNet N7000e and MarkNet N7020e only.  The firmware level may have changed since the release of this article.

  1Insert the USB flash drive into an available USB port.

Press  when USB Mass Storage Device/Media Drive is displayed on the LCD.
MarkNet N7020e users: 
Press  or  until USB Mass Storage Device/Media Drive is displayed on the LCD, and then press .     
  3Press  or  to locate the *.ffc file - for example, Media Drive/LLON0N53.ffc.
  4Press .
  5Press  again at Options:/Update Firmware
  6Observe Updating/Do Not Power Off.

Near the end of the firmware update, you should see a CRC OK message followed by:

  • Kernel... loading to 100%

  • Base... loading to 100%

  • Net... loading to 100%

  • NetDrv... loading to 100%

  • Restarting...

CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check 
  8The network adapter (print server) will reboot and you will see the new firmware level displayed on the LCD.
