This article identifies the latest performance issues and fixes for the Lexmark Genesis S815 and S816 Series All-In-One inkjet printers.

Confirm the following information before continuing on with Issue Identification and software fix suggestions.

Issue Identification

Identify your printer or scanning function and the corresponding symptoms, and then follow the suggested software fix instructions below.

 

Image Capture

 

  • Inconsistent scanned image output against its preview using TEXT preset.
  • You are unable to preview the scanned image after "Overview Scan" progress when the Image capture application is launched while device on PowerSave mode.

Suggested Software Fix

 

 

  1. Click here to download the software. 
  2. Install LexmarkS800SeriesQFE1.0.0.dmg:
    • Launch LexmarkS800SeriesQFE1.0.0.dmg
    • Follow the setup instructions, and when prompted, accept License Agreement (EULA).
    • Complete the installation.
  1. You are now ready to print and scan any documents.

  1. Scan Center quit after invoking the printer to wake up out of power-save mode.
Download the latest web update software. See Suggested Software Fix.

To replicate this scenario, perform the following: 

  • Install the printer successfully via USB.
  • Launch Scan Center while printer is in sleep mode.
    (Printer will successfully wake up. Resolve any warning state on the printer, where applicable.)
  • Close the Scan Center.
  • Relaunch the Scan Center.
  1. Larger than expected image file size produced when scanning to .pdf
  • Reduce the DPI to offset the large file sizes.

The Overview image on Image Capture is not consistent with the scanned image,
  • Threshold setting needs adjusting to closely match ICA Overview.
  • The scanned image may appear lighter than the previewed image.
  • Again, this will occur if setting "Kind" option to "Text" and file format is either "TIFF" or "PNG".
  1.  "Scan Request Failed" on device-initiated scans sent to an application recently added in the Customize List of Scan Center.

 

 

  • Scan the document without invoking the Preview/Edit utility.

A "Scan Request Failed" will occur after adding a new application to the Customize List on Scan Center application, then initiate a scan job from the device.

 

  1.  Incorrect printed output for duplex printing of odd numbered-pages.

 

  • Scan the document without invoking the Preview/Edit utility.

This is caused by the default setting for reverse output order of pages.
